Miqlat USA takes short term mission groups to Malawi annually. It is both an exciting and challenging journey. Christians from all walks of life and all age groups are welcome to come and broaden their understanding of what it means to "feed the hungry and cloth the naked". If you have a beating heart in your chest, then this experience will change your life.
Teaching Time at the Hope Center
When the orphan children come for lunch, they first have a short teaching time for songs, Bible stories and age appropriate Bible lessons .
Orphans Have Lunch at the Hope Center
A well organized crew makes feeding 250+ orphans a smooth operation.
Eating Lunch
You can tell by their faces that this is one of their favorite times of day. The children are happy and always respectful toward each other.
Clearing the Field
In preparation for bringing the Farming God's Way (FGW) training to Kogoya Village, a field was purchased and cleared. This field will then serve as a "Demonstration Garden" for the training and displaying of how the FGW methods will increase the small farmers yield.
Children Help in the Field
The children enjoyed helping clear, mulch and play in the field. They love to join in on any of the work projects that go on at the Hope Center.
Boys in the Rain
The children joined in while working to clear the field for the demonstration garden in preparation for the Farming God's Way training. The boys got rowdy for this picture.
Women to Women Discipleship
There are many opportunities to interact with the village mothers and families. A chance to talk and laugh together about the work being done and a chance to share a caring spirit of love and friendship.
Team Members Loving the Children
During and after lunch, there is lots of time to interact and play games with the children. They love it!
See My Brother?
The children love having pictures taken. A young boy helps his brother get into the shot.
The Big Boys
Even the older boys will ham it up for the camera. They enjoy the fun but they are often serious and thoughtful as well.
Young Girl Waiting During the Medical Clinic
What we would consider to be inadequate medical care is common in the rural villages of Malawi. Many children and adults will have soars that go untreated and become infected. Providing regular medical care is one of the benefits of sponsorship for these orphans.
Quiet Moments
Sometimes the children just want to watch the action. There are many levels of emotional and spiritual need in the lives of the orphan children. Showing them the love and care of Christ is a huge step toward building their hope for a better future.
The Bus Readies for Departure
After a day in the village, the children always gather around the bus to say farewell and watch us depart.
The Village Chapel
The village chapel near the Hope Center is a place of quiet escape during a busy day, and a place of joyful, exuberant song during worship.
